Shot one.this shows us setting the scene, an establishing shot. which is good as it shows the audience our location and makes them get an idea of what look we are going for in our video. i.e the woods expresses eeriness, and fear. we looked at how long the introduction was, and we worked out by doing 5 individual shots it allows us to let each one last for approx 6 seconds. We will work the camera angle and change shots using the zoom feature making it more interesting and unique. Zooming in and out will allow flow in different shots. also we will cover a range of close ups and long shots which helps the audience see the entire location. Establishing shots of the area work for 28 seconds and then the guitar comes in, changing the sound of the song making it appear a different section. so starting a new theme in the video is suitable.
Shot six.On shot six and seven there will be a theme of running, the idea of being chased through the woods. To work with themes of being alone, being scared and trying to escape. With this motion we can start at a close up and as the character runs off, he appears further away so it becomes a long shot. Throughout the scenes we will keep using rule of three, and involving composition and depth of field in alot of camera shots.
Shot 8.In this section of the video, we have been looking at some film clips to get ideas. A few which we watched used a camera method of their characters moving closer without actually moving. So we decided over shot 8-11 we are going to introduce the character far away and with the speed facility on the apple macs in film cut pro, we can increase the speed level from 100, to 300 and effecting the seconds between those shots, so the character progressively moves forward but appears not to move. This is done by taking several separate shots, and joining them up quickly. On the final shot when we are left with only the mask it would be good to show good depth of field, so that the background is blurry and the mask is defined and clear cut. Creating a image for him not knowing whats going on around him, and also letting the audience understand hes the main point to the video etc. we got this idea from a film called 'The Ring' i am unable to provide a link as i cannot access youtube on the college computers. but it is used throughout the film as 'Samara' crawls out from the tv and walks towards the other charcters.

Shot 11 This is when the first verse comes in, for this we thought of doing a low angle close up on the masked characters face. The idea of low angle, shows he is superior and has more power than the opposing character in the video. Even though they are the same person, we are trying to display a split personality. For shot 13-14 we will go head on with the mask and film it spinning round him, creating a look of confusion and paranoia. This will at times be an extreme close up.
Shot 15, 16 and 17 Is working around the idea of hiding, and feeling scared as we will get the normal character to hide in the bush trying to get away from the masked character, and the masked character will be at the top of a hill portraying the idea of 'being above him' literally and metaphorically. Then in 16 and 17, it puts across a stronger idea of fear and danger as the characters fall, stumble and use wood for protection/unused weapons.
Shot 18Goes back to the idea of rotating the camera around the characters head, we have already done it to the masked character so we do it now to the unmasked man. This can represent the idea that they have nothing in common but for one moment they are going through the entirely same thing as the other did. Using the same camera shots and angles, we will rotate around their whole head. Then going high angle at the end, spinning around showing that the masked man has got inside his head and confused him.
Shot 20-24 we want to play with the lighting in on the shots, as we wanted a dark and eery feel for our video but you cannot control the weather. and it had started to get sunny lately during the days, but in our favour the woods was sheltered and the trees created alot of shadowing which was good for our next shot. this was getting the character without a mask to be directly in the sunlight then get the sunlight to move across his face creating a shadowing effect, meaning that its not sunlight but darkness in his life at the moment. and by him being on his knees we can literally portray him as the weaker and helpless character of the two. At the end of these shots we are 1.04 into the song. Each shot is timed out and worked to fit into particular lyrics and time slots. Moving into shot 22 the idea of stronger and weaker is showed at a stronger point, as we look through the legs of the masked man to see the unmasked man no the floor. showing danger that he is hurt, or scared. using depth of field on the mans legs and then focusing back on the mans legs would help to show a range of camera use and control when changing settings. In shot 24 he gets up and the unmasked man runs off into the woods.
Shot 25-30 for this we wanted to use the college's studio to be able to project images and projections into our video by using the lights and the cameras. This would be good for a change of scene and also as it would create even more confusion for the audience as more is going on. The 26th shot is used to being the two characters into the same situation and shot, as the camera would keep switching between the two making them appear as if they are there but they are not. With this constant changing it creates panic and misunderstanding. 27-30 are shots used to represent fear in its simplest way, this is running away and finding a way to escape and get out. this running shot will be filmed from different points of view and angles, meaning it will last for 11 seconds. 30 then sums up what has happened by the masked man being very confused and angry that he has run off and tryed to escape the situation.
Shot 31-32then sees him standing behind the unmasked man, and during this frame we will change the composition and use a strong location so there is a vision for rule of three. Also what would be good is changing the depth of field to focus on different points, so that is gives off the idea that no one knows what to think, do or look at. This entire shot lasts 6 seconds, as then it moved onto more running away and the camera angle is completely changed as we are trying to show the idea that one of the characters has run away and by doing so has knocked the other to the ground.
shot 33 is a single point of view shot from a person running, this will be sped up or slowed down to create a sense of distortion.
shot 34-46 these shots involve alot of the mask, which would allow the audience to believe or to decide that as he is taking control of the video he must be winning in terms of the characters. Using extreme close ups for the mask make it seem friendly, like we can get close to him and he doesn't mind etc. meaning the audience will either feel fear as they know this isn't the case or they will start to believe the masked man isn't real and its a sense of split personality from the unmasked man. using jumpy shots to get closer and change position, creates a feeling of escaping or trying to do something but you cant; which is good for the masked mans role and character. From shots 38-40 we see alot of individual scenes, working with the idea of being alone in a woods is frightening. Another thing is that it shows one is chasing the other and determined to find him. Shot 46 is the end shot and will tie up the ending of the video. it will end with a mid shot of the unmasked man and he will removed a mask and stare forwards into the camera. hopefully we can get the lighting to be positioned behind him so it gives the shot more points and texture.
Establishing pictures of the world work for 28 seconds and then the guitar is available in, altering the sound of the track making it seem a different section. so beginning a new theme in the video is suitable.
