Evaluation on skills
In AS media we were told to complete a short video, this gave me skills to use the video camera. but when it came to filming in more complex detail my skills at working a camera needed to be better. for example in our finished video i shot footage of Matt standing up on a hill this shows wide depth of field and then i zoom out and it goes, this is something i would not have learnt from doing this project. i also learnt basic skills like how to set up a tripod and use studio lighting if i needed to. i liked the idea of using the studio lights as you could place different coloured paper over the lights and it would reflect onto the individual as a different colour. this looked good as its an unusual effect that you cannot do outside. in my research for ideas of music videos i have looked at how complex and how much money each must cost to make. this is interesting as it is a good comparison to look at how we used no money and our videos are not up to the same standards. and it seems outstanding that the money would be used towards these videos to advertise a song. other skills i have used involve programmes and software on the apple mac computers, at first it seemed like something i would not be able to grasp but after about 15 minutes of using them to order the footage it became easy to me. i would like to use it again in the future, as it is exciting to see the finished piece along with the audio. for alot of my research i used the Internet with search engines such as google. this took me to websites that are made by fans and this showed me ways in which the band are presented and portrayed. i found out that before the task i would not have wanted or felt it necessary to make a storyboard but by mid way through i realised it was vital to have one as it helped us see the finished piece and made us understand and be organised about how much more we have to do.
